When Deck Width Becomes a Safety Question
Somewhere between a compact machine and a full-size one, deck width stops being about preference. A machine that overhangs the edges, or one heavy enough that a narrower trailer has no margin left, needs a 7-wide underneath it.
Why the margin matters
Loading heavy equipment is rarely done on level concrete. It happens in a gateway, on a graded lot, on ground that is not quite flat. A machine centered on a wide deck with room either side is far more forgiving to winch, position, and strap than one crowded onto a narrow one.
