Specify above your heaviest machine rather than level with it. Attachments, fuel and the clay that comes off a wet site all add weight that is not on the spec sheet, and a trailer run at its limit wears brakes, bearings and tires appreciably faster than one with margin. The price gap between two adjacent ratings is usually less than one set of replacement bearings.

Deck boards where the tracks or tires bear, ramp hinges and their pins, tie-down points for elongation, and the frame welds at the tongue.
