ATV and Powersports Trailers in Tulsa

Open decks and enclosed boxes, and the decision between them comes down to two questions that have nothing to do with the machine: where does the gear ride, and does the rig sit loaded overnight?

5x10 and 6x10 open

One quad or a single-seat side-by-side. Ramp gate, tie-down points rated for a machine rather than for cargo, under a minute from parked to loaded. It lives outside between trips without complaint, which for a machine that gets hosed down after every ride is exactly right.

6x12 open

Two machines, or one two-seat side-by-side with room for fuel cans and a cooler. This is the workhorse size for families running out to the Cross Timbers or the sand.

Golf carts

Worth naming separately because it comes up constantly in searches at this store. A single cart sits comfortably on a 5x10 or 6x10, and two will go on a 6x12 with the gate up.

Enclosed, 6x12 and up

Helmets, fuel, tools and a spare set of clothes travel with the machine, and nothing is visible at a trailhead. That second point sells more enclosed trailers than the weather does. Specify a ramp door and get the D-rings placed for your actual machine rather than a generic layout - retrofitted anchor points are always a compromise.

Build

Dexter torsion axles, heavy-duty tie-downs, diamond plate rock guard trim, radial tires and LED lighting throughout. Oklahoma dirt is hard on exposed hardware, so check tie-down points each season and order a mounted spare. See the powersports range.

Open or enclosed, decided honestly

Open wins if the machine gets washed after every ride, the trips are short, and the gear fits in the truck. You are paying for a deck, a gate and tie-downs, and nothing else, and that is often exactly the right purchase.

Enclosed wins the moment any of three things is true: the gear will not fit in the truck, the rig sits loaded somewhere you do not control, or the machine is worth more than you would like a stranger to notice. Most people who own both end up using the enclosed one.

Tie-downs are the part that matters

A machine is a very different load from cargo. It is heavy, it is high, and it wants to move independently of the trailer. Rated D-rings placed for the specific machine beat a generic row of anchor points every time, and getting them positioned at build costs nothing extra. Retrofitted anchors are bolted rather than welded into the frame structure and they are never as good.

Ramps and load angle

A ramp gate that is short relative to deck height gives a steep angle, and a long-wheelbase machine with low clearance will catch. If your machine is low, ask about ramp length rather than assuming the standard gate suits. In some cases a tilt deck is the better answer entirely.

Living with it in Oklahoma

Dust and grit are hard on exposed hardware. Check tie-down points, gate hinges and latches each season, keep a mounted spare, and check pressures cold rather than by eye. Ultraviolet ages trailer tires faster than the tread wears here, so judge them by age and condition.

Before the first trip

Check pressures cold on trailer and machine both, confirm the ramp gate latches positively, and load the machine once in the yard before you load it at a trailhead with people waiting. Straps stretch and settle over the first few miles, so pull over after ten minutes and re-tension them.
