What the geometry changes
Moving the coupling into the truck bed puts the load over the rear axle rather than behind it. The truck carries the tongue weight instead of being levered by it, which raises the rating, straightens the tracking, and keeps the rig settled at weights a bumper-pull would not enjoy. Over the Siskiyous that difference shows up on the descent rather than on the flat.

What you need first
